Force on Force: Defensive Scenarios 1 (Boise, ID)

What is Force on Force: Defensive Scenarios 1?

This is a reality-based class designed to introduce and train students in the physiological and psychological conditions experienced during a gunfight. This course utilizes actual firearms that have been converted to fire non-lethal training rounds against role players to immerse the student in scenario-based encounters that will provide stress-inoculation and increase both confidence and ability in the event of an actual use-of-force.

Students can expect this course to challenge their mental and physical abilities under stress and force split-second decisions in the use of force. The first day will include live fire techniques and drills followed by force-on-force scenarios. The second day will be dedicated to force-on-force exercises and scenarios.

Our scenarios revolve around specific violent encounters civilians face:

  • Carjackings
  • Home invasions
  • Muggings
  • Kidnappings
  • Active shooter situations
  • Sexual assaults
  • Street fights
  • Robberies
  • Domestic violence
  • Road rage
  • Workplace violence

If you are serious about defending yourself and your loved ones, you need to take this class. Force on force is considered by many to be the most valuable training available. The class is as close as you can get to the actual use of force in a training environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this class designed for?

This reality-based class is designed to introduce and train students in the physiological and psychological conditions experienced during a gunfight. It is ideal for students who have little to no experience with Force on Force; however, because of the dynamic and unique nature of force-on-force scenarios, the class is still extremely valuable for those with a lot of experience.

How much does the class cost?

Standard: $750

What topics are covered?

  • Real-world safety
  • Weapon handling in and out of the home
  • Introduction and familiarization with non-lethal weapon systems
  • Pre-force planning
  • Stress effects on the body/operating under stress
  • Threat anatomy
  • Shot placement and the reality of “stopping power.”
  • Critical target selection/point of aim
  • Human anatomy as it applies to the use of force
  • Concealment clothing/drawing from concealment
  • Close quarters shooting
  • Defensive and offensive movement
  • Threat avoidance
  • Confronting and recognizing the threat
  • Pre-assault indicators
  • Use-of-force decision-making (shoot/don’t shoot)
  • Considerations for after a use-of-force and contact with law enforcement

What are the class’s gear requirements?

  • Pistol of your choice for live-fire drills. Make sure it is in good, working condition. (Long slide guns will not be suitable, e.g. Glock 34. Competition trigger jobs on striker-fired concealed carry guns are unsuitable for this class.)
  • We will provide all non-lethal pistols (i.e. Glock 17s/19s as they are the most common pistols) and non-lethal ammunition. We will have extra concealed carry holsters and magazine pouches for students who do not use a Glock 17 or 19, but who will be using one of our Glock 17s/19s for our scenarios.
  • Concealed carry holster to simulate concealed carry scenarios. Outside the waistband holsters are acceptable, but we recommend them only if your line of work requires you to carry your weapon overtly.
  • Gun belt.
  • At least 3 pistol magazines.
  • Magazine pouches so you can carry at least one extra pistol magazine. (If you will be using a concealed carry holster, please use a magazine pouch designed for concealed carry. Overt holster users can use traditional, overt magazine pouches.)
  • At least 200 rounds of ammunition.
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Comfortable shoes. Most of the day, we will be on our feet.
  • Sunscreen and a hat (Optional, but we will spend a lot of time in the sun.)
  • Drinks and food.
  • Force on Force Equipment:
    • Long-sleeved shirt, and pants are mandatory as a minimum for Force-on-Force scenarios. (Clothing will very possibly be stained by paint, so please wear expendable items.)
  • Cover garment (thick, oversized sweater or jacket to help absorb the impact of non-lethal ammunition–only worn for scenario training). It’s a good idea to bring layers as you determine your own comfort level and can adjust accordingly.
  • Scarf or balaclava to protect your skin/neck area.
  • Groin protection. Mandatory for use during scenario training.
  • Tactical/padded gloves that allow you to manipulate your weapon while providing a level of protection against non-lethal ammunition. Mandatory for use during scenario training. A lot of people get shot in their hands, so good, padded gloves are important.
  • Additional safety equipment for Force on Force will be provided.

Does Force on Force hurt?

Force-on-force training with qualified instructors is very safe. However, non-lethal ammunition can hurt, especially upon impact on bare skin or thin clothing. The feel of the sting can be mitigated by wearing thicker clothing, such as a heavy sweatshirt or jacket, as well as a scarf or high-collared shirt/turtleneck; but refrain from wearing body armor or too many layers. Force-on-force training is SUPPOSED to hurt. Pain is an excellent teacher.

Will I be shot during the scenario training?

Yes, all class participants must agree to role-play as both defenders and aggressors. You may wear thicker clothing or layers to mitigate the feel of the non-lethal ammunition, and a full-face mask and gloves must be worn to reduce the chance of injury.

Can anyone attend the class?

Prior force-on-force experience is NOT necessary, but because of the realistic nature of the class, this is a class for those serious about defending themselves. Students must know how to safely operate and manipulate their pistols and be comfortable drawing from concealment and moving and shooting.

Please contact us at info@tacticalhyve.com for questions regarding qualifications.

Students must be at least 21 years old or 18+ with a guardian, and due to the Department of State ITAR regulations, tactical training is only available to US Citizens/Legal Residents.

Awesome 2 day Conceal Carry Force on Force course this weekend held by @tacticalhyve. This course will test your fundamentals and wake you up to the dark realities of WHY we train. The Instructors, Myles and Dor were fantastic and lended a ton of knowledge and experience to this course. We were told this was NOT a shooting course and that it was a “Problem Solving” course… and THAT it was. Lots of dynamic scenarios that will make you think seriously about the weight of carrying a gun. I was humbled and made a lot of mistakes, that are still haunting me as I’m typing. Speed and solid fundamentals ARE necessary, BUT are NOT a guarantee to surviving a gun fight… the speed your mind can process a possible solution to chaotic and deadly situations is AS important if not MORE important than being able to shoot a gun… and that’s what I took away from this weekend and it’s probably one of the most important lessons I’ve learned in this industry. If you train seriously or not, or you just need a wake up call to the possible reality and responsibility of carrying a gun as a protector and good guy in a unhinged world, then you should take this course.

I loved every single minute of my Force on Force training. Dorr and Dave were excellent. They pushed us hard and made allowances for mistakes, but were sure to put pressure on us not to make them again, which was why I signed up. I’ll definitely be doing more courses.

Just to stress how important this training is, today I found myself in a situation while at a jet car wash in an area I was unfamiliar with that could have ended very badly for me, and others. I immediately remembered what I’d learned from this course and used it to stay safe and get myself out of what had the potential to get very ugly, very fast. Thank you Dorr, Dave and all at Tactical Hyve. You never know when you you need to think fast and act.
